U-Battery brings together members of Canada’s nuclear supply chain

On 18 October, U-Battery hosted its inaugural Canadian Supplier Forum in partnership with the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI) at Kinectrics’ head office in Toronto, Ontario.
More than 30 vendors representing a broad cross-section of Canada’s nuclear supply chain had the opportunity to have 1-on-1 meetings with U-Battery project leads and hear directly from U-Battery’s subject matter experts on the design and supply chain benefits of U-Battery’s technology.

Over the long-term, U-Battery will establish a supply chain in Canada to support the deployment of the project. Key Canadian manufacturing capability and capacity will be required in the supply chain, including assembly, construction and installation for eventual fleet rollout in key markets in Canada.
U-Battery’s innovative SMR technology has the potential to address energy poverty and reliability issues by providing a clean, safe, emissions-free, and cost-effective source of energy for a variety of applications including remote communities and other off-grid locations such as mining operations in the Ring of Fire.
As part of the dual-track approach to advance SMRs in Canada and the UK, U-Battery will be hosting a second supplier day on 4 November, this time in the UK. Similar to the Canadian event, the UK Supplier Forum will enable U-Battery to share details on its reactor technology and form supplier relationships to facilitate future deployment.
